Kursusindhold
The focus will be on the relation between diet, nutrient intake and non-communicable diseases in adults.
Some main items will be: Malnutrition (obesity and under nutrition); diabetes; cardiovascular diseases; immune related diseases, food allergies, food intolerance, osteoporosis and cancer.
 
Undervisningsform
The course is based on the main items with coherent blocks of lectures and discussions in groups and plenum.
 
Målbeskrivelse
Learning Outcome
The main objective of the course is to give the student an understanding of the relation between diet, nutrition and non communicable diseases in adulthood and in elderly.

After completing the course the students should be able to:

Knowledge:
- describe the pathogeneses of the most important life style related non communicable diseases
- identify the most important methods to evaluate risk of diseases
- mention health risks in relation to different types of foods
- mention effects of physical activity on the most important non communicable diseases


Skills:
- explain possible mechanisms behind the relations between life style (especial diets, nutrients, physical activity) and non communicable diseases in adults and elderly

Competences

- discuss the patophysiologic mechanisms behind the influence of diet/nutrients and physical activity on non communicable diseases on a systemic, organ as well as cellular level
