Beskrivelse af eksamen: The participant must submit an individual project report. The report is defended at an oral exam with 15 minutes for presentation, and 15 minutes for questions from the examiners.

Kursusindhold
The course is basic epidemiology and will focus on study objectives and hypotheses, study design, nature of data, data management and measures of frequency and association. Diagnostic methods and methods for evaluating agreement will also be included.
 
Undervisningsform
The lectures are given during one week, plenum discussions and exercises during 5 consecutive days. During the following 4 weeks of the course, participants are working with individual projects - preferably based on own data. Supervision is given during this period.
 
Målbeskrivelse
At the end of the course it is expected that the participant has the following qualifications:

Knowledge:
Identify an epidemiological problem to be investigated using relevant descriptive and analytical methods.

Skills:
Design studies, collect and store data in a database and evaluate data quality. Use relevant epidemiological methods and analyse the data.

Competences:
Collaborate scientifically with epidemiologists and statisticians and other relevant scientists. Be able to evaluate the validity and reliability of the epidemiological results in relation to generalising to other populations than just the study population.
