Course Contents
The course is interdisciplinary with topics within human nutrition. The course is initiated with a tutorial in literature research and formation of the groups. Adjustment of the project title is done in collaboration with the supervisor. The series of lectures include supporting tools for the project process. The course is based on research in groups researching within the literature eventually combined with practical laboratory work. The project work is finalized by a written report which is defended at an oral examination.

Teaching And Learning Methods
Teamwork in self selected groups with supporting series of lectures. The project report is primary made under the guidance of a supervisor, but the course responsible might be involved in the process.

Learning Outcome
Knowledge
- Provide an overview of a scientific topic related to nutritional science
- Identify and describe a well-defined hypothesis
- Identify relevant scientific literature in relation to the hypothesis
- Reflect upon the use of different scientific methodologies in studies (i.e. study design, analytical methods) in relation to the hypothesis
- Identify studies providing different levels of evidence to support the hypothesis (i.e. nutrition epidemiology, intervention studies, animal and cell studies)

Skills
- Provide an analysis of the determination factors and the consequences related to the hypothesis
- Compare the scientific evidence provided by the identified studies
- Oral and written communication of the results of the group work to scientists

Competences
- Apply a critical approach when discussing the results and its relation to nutritional science
- Discuss the nutritional significance of the scientific results at a population level
- Provide justified suggestions for future research in the area (i.e. study type, methodology)
