Rammer for undervisning | Lectures, practicals, theoreticals, excursion. Handling and procedures will be trained on live animals. The course is taught in week no. 2, 3 and 4. Lectures are typically given in the morning (9-12). Afternoon lectures some days. Some days lecturefree. | ||||||||||||||||||

To introduce the student to using, handling and maintaining laboratory animals in theory and practice. The course is a category C course in accordance with the European Council's convention ETS 123 and the Councils Resolution on Education and Training of Persons Working with Laboratory Animals from December 3, 1993. | |||||||||||||||||||
Kursusindhold | |||||||||||||||||||
The course includes the following topics: Ethical, welfare, and legislative aspects of using animals for research; biology, husbandry, genetics, breeding, transgenesis, anaesthesia and analgesia of laboratory animals, experimental procedures, alternatives to animal use and analysis of relevant scientific literature. | |||||||||||||||||||
Undervisningsform | |||||||||||||||||||
The theory will be given as lectures and theoretical case work, while handling and experimental techniques will be practiced on live animals. Institutions using laboratory animals will be visited. | |||||||||||||||||||
