Kursets målsætning
The aim of the course is to educate students in processes associated with disease development in fish. The course will focus on diseases of fish both in farmed and natural conditions. Following the course students will be able to evaluate diseases of parasitological, bacterial and viral origin. Special attention will be given to control methods involving management and vaccinology (fish immunology).

Kursusindhold
Lectures, seminars, excursions, practical exercises and project work related to fish parasitology, fish bacteriology, fish virology and fish immunology. Classical and molecular methods will be used.

Undervisningsform
Lectures, seminars, excursions, exercises, project work. Seminars will involve student presentation of scientific papers concerned with fish diseases. Following presentation by one student in agroup other students and teachers discuss objectives, materials and methods, results and discussions. Excursions will adress visits at different fish farm types and fish disease research institutes in Denmark. Exercises will focus on isolation of pathogens and various diagnostic methods.
