Scientific: State-of-the-art knowledge within aspects of animal biotechnology. Knowledge of experimental procedures as well as theoretical insight into selected fields of genetics, cell biology, reproductive biology and pathobiology. Understanding of the biological complexities with the field of animal biotechnology. Technology and production: Knowledge of advanced concepts of animal biotechnology leading to understanding and applying information from the scientific literature. Use of advanced methods in molecular biology in the context of a research project. Ethics and values: To communicate results from research within animals biotechnology. | |||||||||||||||
Kursets målsætning | |||||||||||||||
The course is an advanced course that provides the students with a deeper understanding of the theoretical and experimental work used within different aspects of animal biotechnology. The course forms a final synthesizing element of the M.Sc. education and it is a preparation for M.Sc. projects. | |||||||||||||||
Kursusindhold | |||||||||||||||
The theoretical part of the course is based on selected scientific papers. The papers are discussed in colloquia and seminars. The practical part of the course is based on a number of topics chosen based on ongoing research within the area of animal biotechnology. These topics will be announced before the course is starting so that interested students can apply and form project groups (2-4 students per group). One or two teachers will be allocated to each project group. The students and teacher(s) prepare the project description and a list of relevant literature jointly. | |||||||||||||||
