Kompetenceområder
Basic Science: The course will give the students a basic knowledge of the plant as a living organism.
Understanding of growth, development and properties of plants and how this is influenced by internal and external factors.

Applied science: Knowledge of how growth and development are controlled

Ethics & Values: The students will be aware of ethics and values related to physiological problems

Kursets målsætning
The aim of the course is to focus on the relationship between structure and function at the cell, tissue and organ level. Interactions between cells and tissues are guided and limited by the plant structure (anatomy). During growth, a plant balances its internal activities according to the demands in light, water, and nutrients (physiology).

Kursusindhold
The following issues will be considered: water movement, ion uptake and movement of solutes within the plant; mineral nutrients; nitrogen metabolism; partitioning of carbohydrates; growth and development; plant hormones; light effects including photomorphogenesis and photoperiodism; growth response from external stimuli as tropisms.

Undervisningsform
The course is given as a combination of introducing lectures, therotical exercises and cases (4-6 students) and 4 cases). The case will be based on mindmaps and central areas within field of plant Physiology.
