Course Objectives
During the course the students will learn to bring together specific knowledge about the hoticultural production chains.
They will also learn to understand, analyse, handle and solve complicated multidisciplinary issues in international horticultural production chain.
 
Course Contents
At the home university the students prepare a presentation of a specific horticultural production in their home countries. Additionally they make a poster focusing on the horticultural area in their home country. During the course (2 weeks from 4/4 - 15/4) the students present the poster and their presentation in the class.

During the intensive program there will be lectures about important factors influencing the production chains. The students will have to participate in two PBL groups working with specific production chain problems.

The course includes lectures within the following areas:
-Introduction to chains
-Economical driving forces
-Product quality
-Case study, how to do
-Monitoring of the chains
-Biomonitoring
-Technical, economical and biological modelling
-Product handling in the chain
-Breeding in relation to chains and GMO's
-Consumers versus production chains
-European development in horticulture

In the very last part of the intensive program the PBL groups will initiate a final PLB work which they will continue and finish at the home university by using the internet for communication.
 
Teaching And Learning Methods
The program consists of three major parts: Preparation at home, the intensive program in Denmark and reporting at home university. The program is a mixture of lectures, PBL group work and excursions.
