Kursusindhold
The course aims to impart in-depth knowledge of the social role of present-day Danish forestry and a solid basis for assessing its potential role. The course builds on the students basic knowledge of economics. Sustainable multiple-use forestry as demanded by the Forest Act implies the consideration of marketed as well as non-marketed benefits. Danish forest policy is related to international conditions, and an introduction is given to forestry in a developing country context.
The rational of a special forest economics course is the extremely long production time in forestry.
The forest policy framework has become considerably enlarged in recent years, a major reason being the increasing public interest in forestry and nature in general. For that reason it is important that foresters are highly qualified with regard to forest and natural resources policy, and the frame and mechanism of policy formulation are studied.
