| The course objectives are: 1. To study and understand differences among turfgrass species that affect regional adaptability 2. To gain knowledge in maintenance practices that enhance turfgrass health 3. To identify insect, disease and weed pests of turfgrasses and investigate procedures that discourage pest damage | |||||||||||||||
| Course Contents | |||||||||||||||
| The course will demonstrate and investigate turfgrass species adaptation, culture and general management and will thus deal with all biological and technical aspects of turfgrass establishment, management and care. Turfgrass types covered will be both for sports arenas, parks, recreational areas, gardens and the production of cut-and-carry turfgrass mats will be included as well. | |||||||||||||||
| Teaching And Learning Methods | |||||||||||||||
| The main part of teaching on the course will be undertaken by a guest teacher, turfgrass specialist Prof. Gregory E. Bell from Oklahama State University. Lecture sessions will be a combination of lecture and discussion. Excursions will be included. A project paper will be due at the end of the second week of class describig the turf industry in Denmark and/or other european countries. The final oral exam will cover all material presented in lecture sessions and reading assignments. | |||||||||||||||
