Kursets målsætning |
To give students an introduction to various development issues with special emphasis on socio-economic aspects. The course exposes students to the complexity of development problems and will inspire them to achieve a critical attitude towards information concerning the Third World. Subjects included are: Econmic, political and anthropological approaches to development. Gender issues. Food security in LDCs. Agricultural and rural development. Development through aid. International organiztions. |

Kursusindhold |
Having passed the course the students will hold a basic knowledge of the general socio-economic problems facing the developing countries today. The students will be able to put detailed problems and issues into a broader context. This may form the basis for a specialisation through the Master programme "Agricultural Development". |

Undervisningsform |
The course content will be dealt with through lectures and tutorials. Visiting lecturers from Danida, NGOs, universities and private companies will be invited to undertake the lectures. The tutorials will be based on problem orientated group work dealing with selected subjects. |
