| The students should obtain a comprehensive understanding of options and challenges in management of genetic resources of woody plants. The application of genetic studies to support management decisions will be demonstrated by a number of case studies covering both Denmark and tropical countries. | |||||||||||||||||
| Kursusindhold | |||||||||||||||||
| The course covers practical and theoretical considerations regarding: · Options and limitations of genetic management in the general context of Forestry and Landscape management · Genetic sustainability, risc and gain . Genetic processes and dynamics · Strategies for domestication of woody plants including the role of genetic diversity in breeding and deployment populations. · Dynamic and static conservation of genetic resources in situ and ex situ · National and local approaches to genetically sound management of target species including priority setting and management of conflicting interests · Genetic considerations in Close-to-Nature Forestry · Biotechnology in Forestry and Landscape management · Ethic considerations in conservation The course is conducted in co-operation with Danida Forest Seed Centre, Humlebæk. | |||||||||||||||||

| The course will be based on a combination of lectures and exercises. Further, the students will individually or in groups prepare a report on a selected topics. | |||||||||||||||||
